Where science meets art
Moonloft was recently invited to join an InfoHackit day to share our experience in Adobe Illustrator with a team of PHD Environmental Scientists. The workshop consisted of small teams of students, each assigned with a designer, whose challenge was to interpret a part of their research in the form of an infographic. (It also included free pizza and beer, so Adele was definitely IN).
The students had been given a crash-course in Adobe Illustrator the day before the workshop, and Adele’s role was to give everyone in the team a part of the infographic to draw and then somehow piece the lot together. A collaborative effort and the final results were very well received. The data for our team’s infographic was about car sharing, which we produced as a billboard campaign – targeting commuters from urban to rural areas. In this instance, we looked at the environmental and financial impact of a journey between Lancaster and Halton Mill.
If you could benefit from some tuition with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign either for a particular project or general skill development then email adele@moonloft.com. Or keep your eye on our blog for more details coming soon!
Here’s some pictures from the InfoHackit and of course that’s the finished poster from the end of the day at the top pf the page. (The website at the bottom of the poster isn’t real by the way, or at least is isn’t at the time of writing this!)
